At our office, we use the Marco TRS-6100, one of the most advanced technologies available for determining prescriptions. While many optometry practices still rely on traditional phoropters—devices based on designs from the 1950s—we’ve upgraded to a modern digital system.
Older phoropters can be harder to clean, and dust between the lenses may make it challenging to detect subtle prescription differences. In contrast, our digital phoropter is fully enclosed, keeping the lenses clean and dust-free. It’s controlled by a specialized computer keypad, which reduces the chance of human error and allows prescriptions to be transferred directly into your electronic health record.
This technology also enhances the exam experience by letting the doctor display two options (“1 or 2”) side by side, making it much easier for you to notice even the smallest differences between lenses.
We offer the latest technology by Canon to provide you with an advanced digital retinal image (DRI). This is a high resolution photograph of your retina which will help us document, review, and compare your retina over time. We will use DRI to screen for eye diseases and improve our ability to view your internal retinal health at a much higher resolution than conventional methods. This technology helps us see in greater detail retinal problems such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal holes, hypertensive and diabetic retinopathy (all of which can lead to loss of vision) at early stages.
On the left is a normal retina, and on the right is an abnormal retina.
